Swift River
Year-Round Fly Fishing on Massachusetts’ Consistent Trout Stream
The Swift River is one of New England’s most reliable and technical tailwaters. It offers cold, clear water 365 days a year, abundant insect life, and highly educated trout. Fed by constant flows from the Quabbin Reservoir, this spring-fed tailwater fishes through every season, with dry fly opportunities even in mid-winter.
From tiny midges in slow-moving pools to tricky wild browns in pocket water, Swift River fishing demands focus, finesse, and precise presentations. At Green Mountain Angler, we help anglers crack the Swift’s code. Whether you’re here to target large holdover rainbows, master winter dry flies, or work on your drift, we’ll help you fish smarter and get the most out of this challenging and rewarding fishery.
